Our Branches have been busy throughout October working to prepare themselves for electoral victory in future, and to assist their local communities:

Branch Report - HULL

October has been a busy month for the Hull Branch. Following on from our last official Branch Meeting, we have started a series of newspaper sales and direct outreach sessions involving leaflet distribution and talking to members of the public. We have also had members of our branch working on community projects in their immediate local area, and we have discussed ways in which the Party as a whole can support this. We have also been engaging with various groups around Hull to determine key local issues in the area and things that the Party can do to try and resolve these.

Our plan is to hold another official branch meeting at the beginning of November, and members of our branch have discussed expanding our operations to Grimsby and Driffield. There are opportunities in Hull for a real alternative to Labour to be put forward that doesn’t fall into the trap of being a ‘Tory’ Party, as it is an area of low turnout and high disenfranchisement.

Once we have had our November Branch Meeting, we can iron our plans for the Christmas period and into the beginning of the New Year. Anyone in East Yorkshire should get in touch with the Branch and come along to one of our meetings.

Branch Report - LEEDS

Leeds Branch has been extremely busy over the last month, with three of our projects developing well. Firstly, the Outreach/Food Bank and Delivery project, which has successfully made its first delivery to people in need in South Leeds. Secondly, I have had meetings with local officials to discuss the results of our surveys and canvassing from last month and how these issues can be resolved. Thirdly, we have started our next round of surveys and canvassing, this time focussing specifically on the highlighted local issues. We are planning an official Branch meeting on the 30th November at which we can go through all of these things with our members and supporters, and we encourage anyone in the Leeds/West Yorkshire area to attend.

Leeds Outreach and Food Delivery Project

The Leeds Outreach Project that we outlined in our previous Branch Reports has now made its first delivery. Multiple households in the Beeston area were recipients of a delivery of fresh vegetables, meat and bread direct from suppliers (including allotment holders and farms). We were able to fund this through donations and it cost the recipients nothing. This provided them with a healthy alternative to the canned and processed foods that are normally found in food banks.

Following the first delivery, positive feedback from the recipients as well as word of mouth around the area has given us new recipients and new funding which will enable us to expand the scheme, with monthly deliveries now expected. Anyone who would like to donate to this scheme specifically should do so by following this link:

Meetings with Local Officials

In October, I had meetings with representative from the police and local council to discuss the results of the outreach and canvassing. I met with a representative of West Yorkshire police, and I highlighted the fact that crime was the most significant local issue in the area, as well as the types of crime. We discussed ways in which more could be done, and I have been invited to speak at a neighbourhood watch/planning meeting for the area before the end of the year about the issue. I also met with the elected Councillor for Beeston and Holbeck, Ed Carlisle, and talked through the other issues highlighted besides crime. It was an interesting discussion given the seemingly opposite political stances (Mr Carlisle is officially representing the Green Party), but there were issues and solutions that we agreed on. A legitimate political party like ours must be able to engage with people across the political spectrum, with a view to turning enemies into allies.

Survey and Canvassing on Local Issues

Following on from our survey last month which dealt with general issues, we did another round of canvassing which dealt with local issues identified. The main local issue identified last time was crime, and so this time we investigated what the biggest crimes of concern were in the area. The information we got will help us come up with a plan of solutions for when I go before the neighbourhood watch committee. The primary crime issues people identified were noise nuisance, anti-social behaviour and theft, and we will be assisting the community develop an action plan to deal with this.

Branch Report - BIRMINGHAM

During October the NRP Birmingham branch had a big social gathering in Birmingham on the 19th, which featured many new faces as well as old friends. Many NRP members and supporters went to the Unite the Kingdom event in London on the 26th in order to meet up with contacts and to spread the word about the Party.

In November we have our planned branch meeting on 2nd in Central Birmingham. We will be planning our monthly social gathering along with organising our next branch meeting, ideally in December. We will also be organising a team to go out into the community and set up stalls, where we can engage with local people and discuss their concerns much in the same way that Leeds and Manchester Branch have already been doing.

Birmingham is an area of massive neglect and political disengagement, and nobody is offering any real alternative, and so it is down to us to do it. We have a good core of people who are both friends and comrades in Birmingham, and going forward we will make the most of it.

Branch Report - MANCHESTER

Throughout October we began setting up our new stall in Manchester City Centre, which we’ve done three times now with success. I'm excited to say that the responses from every single member of the public who did come over were positive which took some of us by surprise. These stalls will definitely be a continuous feature in the months ahead.

One of these stalls featured a visit from a media team from Channel 4, who have been following the activities of the Party Leader for a year, after his involvement in the protest campaigns of 2023. They came, with an invitation, and spoke to use while we engaged with members of the public in Central Manchester. It was a fair and honest visit and it was good to be able to put ourselves in front of audiences that we might not otherwise have access to at this point.

Looking forward, our plan is to hold a Branch Meeting on the 9th November in Central Manchester, which will hopefully be attended by new members and supporters as well as our current ones. My intent is to finalise one short-term and one long-term project which the Branch can engage in, in addition to continuing on with street campaigning.

Branch Report - LONDON

The London Branch had an informal gathering at the end of September, with a view to assessing whether we could put a viable branch together. We made some good connections and discovered that there was a ‘gap’ in organised activity specifically in the London area.

Following on from this, we had a subsequent gathering on the 26th October in South London, and the Branch has now formally been convened. We will soon have stock of literature and equipment so we can begin campaigning activities.

It is the intention of the branch to hold a meeting once a month, in South London, and to start direct engagement with members of the public via street stalls as well as reaching out to other likeminded groups already existing in the Greater London area in order to get them on board.

If you live in London, get in touch and join us.
